Transforming Learning with Unique,Powerful Technology

Focus Question

Discuss how technology promotes critical thinking and problem solving.
Technology promotes critical thinking by students using the internet to play games and research things online. This causing their minds to think critical because when they are playing a game they have to think about what they are doing and how they are going to win. Also technology is always growing there is something anyways new and exciting coming out or something new that kids get to explore with and expand their minds with new technology that is in our world. I do agree that technology promotes critical thinking. It does because when the students are playing their online games they have to be one step ahead just like in real life or the classroom. They have to know how to answer a question or solve a problem.

Tech tool 3.1

During the tech tool I read it was talking about a app that you can get on your phone and on your computer. There is a website you can go on and play the games as well. The games are math games and the website is called math motion. They have a game were the students can make pizza and it is teaching them economics. The website is for elementary school and elementary aged students.

Summary of chapter 3.

Chapter 3 is about how technology can be used in teaching and how it is compared to not using technology in the classroom. As well as how technology is being used and how well it works in the classroom, and with the students. The chapter also talks about how technology and computer games helps students with critical thinking and problem solving. Also how teachers can collaborate with technology during lesson plans and having students working in groups on assignments and projects. Another big thing the chapter talked about was how technology is making students a lot more creative. I completely agree with everything that the chapter was talking about, especially talking about how students are becoming more creative. There are so many things a student can do with a computer and how they can make videos and all the apps they can use!

  1. It used to be that computing devices were seen only as productivity machines ... and iPads were viewed only as devices in which we would consume information, so thinking about the multitude of creativity options is awesome. I can only hope that more of the individualized creativity gets into the classroom to set a foundation for innovation in the future! :)
